The Story of Salini
In January of 2000, a little girl named Salini was born in southern India. She was the second of three daughters born to their mother, Ammani, through prostitution. When Ammani was thirteen years old, she had been given in marriage to a widower. Frightened and too young to be a wife, Ammani returned home. However, because she did not endure the matrimony, Ammani was thrown out of her parents' house. In order to survive, Ammani began selling curry leaves in the marketplace. She later became a prostitute. After giving birth to three daughters, Ammani was unable to feed them and decided to leave her children at an orphanage.
